“Billy. Hold up a sec.”

Billy glanced over at Andrew, as the car disappear from sight, grateful Ashleigh hadn’t argued over going home. It was the last thing he needed to deal with right now.

“Billy?”

Andrew said his name again, and he pulled his gaze from the street to his partner. “Yeah?”

“There’s something you need to see,” Andrew said, walking to his car and leaning inside. He grabbed a folder, returning back to Billy. “I was working on this when you called me about Wes’s body.”

“Working on what?”

“Well, I was thinking about what you said about the parents. I mean, they, and the girls have all been the targets so far, right? And now, most of the parents are dead, right? So it got me to thinking… what connects them?”

“You found something?”

Andrew nodded. “I was looking through their financial records…”

“Our accountant went through them already. He didn’t find anything suspicious.”

“Well, he missed something,” Andrew told him, pointing at the page. “Because for the last ten years they were all paying a Dr. Pollard a handsome sum of money. Including your father.”

“Well, that makes sense,” Billy said. “Because whatever happened ten years ago, I was a part of it.” He cocked his head to the side. “Is this Dr. Eugene Pollard you’re talking about?”

“Yes. Do you know him.”

“Not know him, but I’ve heard of him. There was an article about him online a few years back. Doesn’t he specialize in memories, dreams, and the psyche?”

Andrew nodded. “Yes.”

“But why would they be paying him?”

“My guess? They enlisted his services ten years ago,” Gloria said from behind them.

Billy groaned. “Christ, Gloria! Do you have to be everywhere?”

“I’m just doing my job, Billy. I got another tip today. Another piece to this very, very messy puzzle of ours.”

“From who?”

Gloria shrugged. “I have no idea. They want to remain anonymous, but what I do know, is that they want us to figure this damned thing out, because they sent me another picture.”

She held up her tablet, showing them the picture. “This was taken in Lindsay Miller’s hospital room. She’d just come out of surgery, but see Charles, Mary, and Sully? It looks like their arguing with Conrad. What do you think they’re arguing about?”
